How to prepare for Physics for IIT-JEE.

How to prepare the concepts of Physics for IIT-JEE

  • The topics in Physics are more conceptual and need thorough understanding.
  • Learning these concepts is quite difficult and needs more time to grasp.
  • Just mugging-up the lessons is surely not an option if you want to rank well in JEE.
  • You might be good with electro statistics or kinematics, but the thorough understanding of Thermodynamics is equally important.
  •  The other topics such as Fluid Mechanics, friction, rotational mechanics seems difficult for most students, but it can be easily learnt if you follow a strict schedule and proper guidance.
  • NCERT textbooks are most suitable to prepare for JEE.
  • Study from numerous reference books out there in the market.

Best Books for Physics
  • Concepts of Physics by HC Verma Vol-1 and Vol-2
  • Understanding of Physics by DC Pandey
  • Problems in General Physics by IE Irodov

Study Tips Physics for IIT-JEE
The questions that are asked in physics involve a large amount of thinking, and one has to be well versed with the concepts before attempting the questions.

As you have already dealt with the motion of a body in two dimensions in you 9th standard, you should start your preparation with kinematics.

You should practice as many questions as possible.

After mechanics, it is advised to start with waves and simple harmonic motion.

These topics are completely new to you, so you must not feel too overwhelmed as once you start to solve the questions, you will find them very easy.

After dealing with SHM and waves, you can start electrostatics and magnetism.

These topics involve theorems and laws, and we have to remember formulae based on them which are to be kept in mind while attempting the questions.

After finishing electrostatics and magnetism, you can start optics and modern physics.

These topics are fairly familiar, as you have covered these in your class 10th, These topics are very scoring, as the questions are simple.

The questions from the topics such as gravitation and semiconductors are formulae based and straight forward.

Covering these topics will give you an extra edge, as although they do not hold the same weightage as the other sections do, they take very less of your time.

GOOD LUCK!
